g@teway - portal manager

Finisco gateway offers a suite of portal solutions providing an online strategy to view numerous sources of information.

A portal is an aggregation of one or more information sources that offers a broad array of resources and services. Portals act as a doorway to the Internet, linking together various sites and services.
At Finisco we specialise in the creation of three different portal solutions:

Intranet

An Intranet is an internal or private Internet used strictly within the confines of a company or organisation. It is used to share company information and computing resources among employees, members and other authorised users. An Intranet uses regular Internet protocols and generally looks like a private version of a company's Internet presence.

Intranets have made internal communication within many organisations much easier and less expensive.

Extranet

An extranet is an intranet that is partially accessible to authorised external users. It provides various levels of accessibility to those users via a valid username and password. Your identity determines which parts of the extranet you can view. Extranets are becoming a very popular means for business partners to exchange information.

An extranet requires security and privacy. These can include firewall server management, the issuance and use of digital certificates or similar means of user authentication, encryption of messages, and the use of virtual private networks (VPNs) that tunnel through the public network.

Companies can use an extranet to:
  • Exchange large volumes of data using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
  • Share product catalogues exclusively with wholesalers or those "in the trade"
  • Collaborate with other companies on joint development efforts
  • Jointly develop and use training programs with other companies
  • Provide or access services supplied by one company to a group of other companies
  • Allow customers to view the status of their support calls, and interact directly with the support staff.
  • Share news of common interest exclusively with partner companies
